James Cameron must be careful not to become megalomaniac. After all, he has directed three of the five highest-grossing films of all time with Avatar, Avatar 2: The Way of Water and Titanic. But even before the trio of mega hits, he released masterpieces. Today on TV runs about True Lies starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in a James Bond role.
On TV: Action hit True Lies got a sequel this year
Harry Tasker (Schwarzenegger) lives in two worlds. For his wife Helen (Jamie Lee Curtis) and daughter Dana (Eliza Dushku) he is a boring company software salesman, for the United States he is an elite agent protecting the country from the most dangerous threats. When his marriage threatens to fail, Harry stages a fictitious agent mission for Helen as an adrenaline rush. And of course the action fantasy is suddenly boarded by the real bad guys.
True Lies was one of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s last big action roles. And it turned out to be a hit at the box office. No wonder perhaps that a new edition was considered for years. It finally appeared a full 29 years after the movie in the form of the True Lies series, starring Steve Howey in Schwarzenegger’s role.
