The action hit The Losers recently pushed the long-awaited scandal film Blond off the Netflix top 1 and Even Quentin Tarantino liked it. The fleet-footed shootout with Marvel stars Chris Evans and Idris Elba is on TV today.
On TV: An action spectacle Quentin Tarantino calls “silly fun”.
As ex-elite soldiers, they want to straighten out a brutal meanness. The unit of Jensen (Evans) and Roque (Elba) has to watch how secret service chief Max (Jason Patric) torpedoes their mission and kill innocent children. Leader Clay (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) doesn’t let it sit and leads the troupe from the underground straight into a vendetta.
The story sounds darker than it is. Director Sylvain White (Slender Man) succeeds in creating an action film that spans long stretches with lively dialogues and fast-paced fight scenes entertains. In between, the pace and creativity falter, which explains the average response from sites like Rotten Tomatoes.
The result will still be entertaining for action fans, who can also enjoy Chris Evan’s worst haircut. Even Quentin Tarantino liked the film. Asked about it on the side of the road, he commented: “The Losers is great fun. Stupid fun for sure. But fun nonetheless.“
