With The Bloody Path of God, an action film was released in 1999 that was reminiscent of many of the hallmarks of cinema by directors such as Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie and ultimately became cult. It wasn’t until 2009 that a second part by director Troy Duffy was released, after which there was repeated talk of a third film.

So far there have been no concrete developments on this, but that is now over. A third The Bloody Path of God installment is officially in development and the main two stars return.

According to Deadline, previous stars Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) and Sean Patrick Flanery (The Damned Thing) will return in their roles as brothers Conor and Murphy McManus. Director Troy Duffy is not supposed to direct.

While the new part of the series originally titled The Boondock Saints is a Expanding the universe instead of a direct sequel Duffy wants to continue the brothers’ story with several books.

The plot of the first film revolves around Conor (Sean Patrick Flanery) and Murphy McManus (Norman Reedus), who killing two members of the Russian mafia in self-defense. This gives them a kind of saintly status in their Irish neighborhood. The brothers use this to go to war single-handedly against the local Russian mafia and to bring about peace in the name of the Lord.

With its gaudy, exaggerated violent montages and strange dialogues, The Bloody Path of God was slightly reminiscent of Tarantino, Ritchie & Co. This is probably why the first film became a cult, because Duffy’s film was initially a box office flop in the cinema and only achieved its status in the Subsequently gained access to the home theater market.

When will The Bloody Path of God 3 be released?

A start date for part 3 has not yet been announced. If filming can begin this year, The Bloody Path of God 3 should be released 2025 at the earliest, perhaps not until 2026 appear.

Since the last part was a direct-to-DVD release, it is not yet clear whether the next sequel will be in theaters or will end up directly on a streaming service.
