Action cracker for Tarantino and Stallone fans finally has a

Straightforward, brutal and deadly serious is the Finnish action film Sisu, in which a gold diggers against a horde of Nazis. Now a trailer for the film by Jalmari Helander (Rare Exports – A Christmas Carol) has been released, which gives you an impression of the brutal goings on in Lapland in 1944.

Check out the trailer for Sisu here:

What is the action movie Sisu about?

In the far north of Finland, a grey-bearded man (Jorma Tommila) digs in the ground. His only companions on the plains of Lapland are an unacceptably cute dog and a horse. One day his tireless pickaxe strikes a vein of gold in the ground. He is rich. Were it not for a war raging around him, he could ride thoughtlessly into the sunset.

It is the Lapland War, who attacked northern Finland in 1944. The Germans, former allies of the Finns, are to be expelled from the country on the orders of the Soviet Union. They leave behind scorched earth, blown up bridges, destroyed villages.

The man, who rides through the vastness with his gold like a soldier of fortune in the Wild West, encounters SS remnants. When they discover that he is transporting gold, they sense their chance: At home, according to Obersturmfuhrer (Aksel Hennie), they would be held accountable for their war crimes. The gold is their way out.

Why Sisu is not only worthwhile for Tarantino and Stallone fans

Sisu was screened at the Sitges Film Festival last year, where it impressed with its sparse story, the specifically Finnish impact and the hard action. That is the film is reminiscent of Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds and Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo. By the way, Sisu also entertains worlds better than Sly’s last use Rambo: Last Blood. Nevertheless, the action film in the lowlands quickly develops into a very stubborn, taciturn beast. Just like his hero.

As the trailer (featuring a single leg) shows, Sisu should at least satisfy anyone with a heart for splatter action. You can read more about this in my first impression of the film.

Unfortunately, Sisu does not have a German start date yet.
