In the November update on November 16th, Lost Ark will fundamentally change how the Tripod system works in Tier 3. As a result, you could lose some progress if you don’t save it beforehand. We at MeinMMO explain the situation.
What are tripods? Tripods are a mechanic in Lost Ark that you get to know and use from Tier 3, i.e. from a Gearscore of 1,302. From this point on, gear in Lost Ark will have additional skill effects called Tripods.
These specifically improve certain aspects of the skills mentioned and make your life easier. Having the right tripods on your loadout is really important later in the game and can make a huge difference in your gameplay.
updated: This article originally appeared on November 4th. We have updated and renewed it with new information to remind you.
What changes? A few months ago there was a major update to the entire tripod system in Korea. This should make it easier to understand and use in the future. This is exactly the update that our western version will receive with the November patch of Lost Ark.
The tripods move away from your equipment and towards your skills menu, which you can call up via “K”. This should be clearer and easier to understand, especially for new players. There will be no tripods on your gear at all, and that’s the crux of the matter.
Here is a preview of more new content for Korea:
What do you have to do now? In each Lost Ark capital there is an NPC where you can transfer your tripods to other equipment or save them to an inventory. You must have your tripods stored in this exact inventory by the November update.
Unlike those on your gear, which simply disappear, your saved inventory will carry over to the new system and your progression is secured. You have to do this for each of your characters individually.
The November update is coming on November 16th, probably from 9am. You still have time up to this point. However, after the update, remember that you will also need to reapply your saved tripods for them to be active.
“This is going to be terrible for people who don’t read forums or patch notes”
How does that go down with the fans? They have mixed feelings. Many are looking forward to the update, but some are also afraid, but not for themselves. Those who are already informed and know what to expect are looking forward to the tripod changes.
However, many fans are worried about the mass of players who do not consume other media related to Lost Ark. Most of them will lose a bunch of progress once the update comes and won’t understand why.
This problem could be mitigated with an in-game message, which Amazon brought into play with the patch on November 9th.
Others don’t quite understand why Smilegate doesn’t just program it in such a way that equipped tripods are also secured. There’s no answer to that, other than that it just is.
Many fans therefore consider it important that this message reaches a large number of players. Especially people who are currently not actively playing, because they probably lose the most because they wouldn’t notice in-game announcements either.
What is the community saying? In a thread on reddit, which also provides information on the topic, some fans are eagerly discussing it. We let some of them have their say here (via reddit):
Lost Ark set up at least one in-game message with the patch on November 9th. Since November 14th, each of your characters will even receive mail with a reminder and some gifts. At the moment, however, it looks as if the update will hit hard, especially inactive players.
The developers will reveal what else is pending by the end of the year in a new roadmap by December.
