Acrobatics is mixed with integration at the Ukrainian circus school in Helsingborg

The teachers Bogdan Klymets and Viktoria Klimetc have been running a circus school in Ukraine for over ten years. With the support of the Church of Sweden, the Adult School Association, the Red Cross and the cultural administration, they have now been able to start a similar activity in Helsingborg.

Since the beginning, more than 30 children, both Ukrainian and Swedish, have joined the circus school. Some have previous experience with them, but most are beginners.

– You are welcome regardless of what level you are at. We start from scratch and work our way up step by step, says Bogdan Klymets.

Planning future performances

Eventually, it is also intended that the circus school will have its own shows. The first is expected to take place in December, and right now they are deciding which children will be in which numbers.

Among the participants who have so far found their way to the circus school, aerial acrobatics have been particularly popular.

– It’s fun when you get to get high in the air, says seven-year-old Alina Bakalo.
