Exporting classified documents
Trump is the first former US president to face federal charges.
The Ministry of Justice has so far not disclosed the charges to the public, but based on Trump himself and various media sources, the seven charges are about the unauthorized possession of secret documents related to national security.
This is a violation of the federal Espionage Act. Trump is also accused of, among other things, destroying or falsifying document information, making false statements and attempting to obstruct justice.
Officials have previously said that Trump illegally took thousands of documents, some of which were top secret, with him at the end of his presidency. The arraignment is scheduled to take place next Tuesday in Miami.
Payment of silence fees
Next March, the criminal trial related to the payment of hush money to a porn star will begin to Stormy Daniels. Trump is accused of falsifying company records to hide the $130,000 hush money paid to Daniels.
Trump, who campaigned for the 2016 presidential election, is suspected of wanting to block Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, from telling the public about a sexual relationship. These are state-level charges filed in New York.
With the case, Trump became the first former US president to face criminal charges.
Sexual abuse
In May, the New York court found Trump guilty in the 1990s, writer-journalist by E. Jean Carroll for sexual abuse. The jury also found Trump guilty of defamation after he insulted Carroll on social media. It was a civil suit.
Carroll has already filed a new lawsuit against Trump for comments he made after this verdict.
Financial upheavals
In December, the Trump Organization group was convicted in a New York court of tax evasion and accounting falsification. The penalty was a $1.6 million fine.
The group’s lawsuits are not ending here, as the Attorney General of the State of New York Letitia James is pursuing a civil suit in a case where Trump’s corporate group is suspected of misrepresenting its value to banks and insurance companies.
James is pushing for a ban on Trump and his three children from being business directors in New York. The case may be presented in court next fall.
The company influences the election result
Authorities are investigating suspicions that Trump tried to influence the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. The matter is being investigated at both the federal and state levels.
Special Prosecutor of the Ministry of Justice Jack Smith investigates the actions of Trump and his supporters to influence the election result in different states.
In an ongoing statewide investigation in Georgia, authorities suspect that Trump sought to overturn the election result by trying to influence regional results.
Based on the recorded phone conversation, Trump demanded that the election authority “find” the necessary 11,780 votes. This would have influenced the result of the state of Georgia and therefore the result of the entire election in Trump’s favor. A decision on whether to press charges is expected in August.
Congress riot
The Justice Department’s special prosecutor is currently considering whether to bring charges against Trump in connection with the January 2021 congressional riot.
According to the final report of the House of Representatives committee, Trump should be charged with several crimes related to the riot, including inciting sedition, resisting official investigations, conspiracy against the US government and making false statements.
Trump considers all investigations and lawsuits against him to be persecution orchestrated by his political opponents.
