According to part 3, one also wants to avoid a certain type of quests in The Witcher 4. Instead, you should be overwhelmed after each quest: like after a good book.
What kind of quests has Witcher 3 avoided? In the open game world of The Witcher 3 you meet many people who need help. Even if these affairs are sometimes done quite quickly, they are never simple “fetch quests”.
According to Philipp Weber, the new narrative lead of The Witcher 4, it should stay that way.

“We don’t make fetch quests”
What are “fetch quests” anyway? These are quests that run out of nothing other than “kill 6 wolves” or “collect 10 medicinal herbs”. As a rule, these quests do not tell stories – they are just there to employ. The term originally comes from the MMORPG area, but large single player role-playing games also fill their game world with them.
After such simple fetch quests, however, in the Witcher 3 you search in vain: every small side quest tells a story, some with unexpected twists. In the end, what sounds like a simple task may turn out to be much more complicated.
“We don’t make fetch quests”: When Philipp Weber was used for The Witcher 3, this was one of the first feedback he had received from the studio. And according to an interview with Gamesradar+, Weber does not intend to move away from this philosophy.
Pawel Sasko also had their say in the same interview. He was also a quest designer for The Witcher 3. According to Sasko, the goal was to overwhelm players-like when they have just finished reading a good book.
Where we are already in books: the geralding from the games recommends everyone to read through the witcher novels. They are really good – and if you think the Witcher could not work as a protagonist without geralt, you should be taught better.
