Writing on his own social media, Trump says that the fighting in Syria does not belong to the United States and that Syria is not a friend of the United States.
According to Trump, it could be best for Russia if the rebels succeed in ousting the president Bashar al-Assad of power. For him, the war in Ukraine takes too much of Russia’s attention to stop the rebels in Syria.
A complete withdrawal of the United States would be bad news for the Syrian Kurdish fighters, who at one time managed to drive the extremist organization Isis from their territories precisely with the support of the United States.
