The Kremlin representative criticized the EU’s new sanctions package as absurd.
Today, Russia rejected China’s proposed peace plan in Ukraine, saying that the conditions for a peaceful solution do not currently exist.
– We paid a lot of attention to the plan of our Chinese friends. So far we see nothing of the conditions necessary to bring this whole story towards peace, the representative of the Kremlin Dmitry Peskov said.
China released its peace plan on Friday, the anniversary of the Russian invasion. In its 12-point document, China, among other things, demanded that peace negotiations be organized as soon as possible and stressed that nuclear weapons must not be used in a war of aggression against Russia.
China has tried to remain neutral regarding the war in Ukraine, but at the same time has maintained close relations with its ally Russia.
Today, Peskov also commented on the EU’s new sanctions package against Russia. Peskov criticized the package as absurd and claimed that Western countries are having trouble finding new people and things to target with sanctions.
The European Union approved the tenth package of sanctions against Russia on Saturday.
