GTA 6 is hotly anticipated, but another title has been waiting to be announced for years. According to insiders, the successor to a now legendary game could not be long in coming. We’re talking about Half Life 3.
What’s Half Life 3 all about? Hardly any other game is surrounded by so many myths, rumors and memes. It’s the one title that many gamers have wanted for years, now decades, but that simply isn’t announced.
Valve released the VR game Half Life: Alyx in 2020, but that only partially satisfied waiting fans. It wasn’t the long-awaited third part of the main series.
According to insiders, Half Life 3 has long been in development and has reached a point where an official announcement is not too far away.
The legendary Half Life 2 is already over 20 years old – you can see the trailer here:
Half Life 3 is said to have been in development for a long time
Which insider is it about? First, there is the insider Gabe Follower, who publishes videos on YouTube. He was already correct with his information last year in the case of Valve’s deadlock. According to him, the development of Half Life 3 is already advanced and no longer at the very beginning.
Team employees and even family members have already been given playable versions. These playtests are codenamed HLX, which supposedly stands for Halfe Life 3. In this phase of development we check how well the game has worked so far. If there is criticism, larger changes are sometimes made. According to Gabe Follower, in the case of Deadlock the character design was revised again, and in Half Life: Alyx the story was revised.
According to the insider, the development of Half Life 3 has already progressed to such an extent that an announcement in 2025 cannot be ruled out. But he is not the only one who provides information in this regard.
Who has further information? Voice actor Mike Shapiro has lent his voice to the G-Man from Half Life in the past. The mysterious character has long since become iconic, which is mainly due to his appearance and voice.
Mike Shapiro has now shared a cryptic video on x.com. In it you can see details of a painting and hear Shapira as G-Man talking about the “unexpected surprises” that await us. He uses the hashtags #Valve, #Halflife, #GMan and #2025.
All of this suggests that there is something to the information. The voice actor gives clues here that are at least highly suspicious.
It remains to be seen whether Valve will actually announce Half Life 3 in 2025. Will it appear before GTA 6? Well, that cannot be resolved at this point. By the way, Valve still cares about its titles many years later: 25-year-old shooter is one of the most important games on Steam, but is now getting a patch for an ancient bug
