The days are short, the weather is terrible – what could be better than watching a real fantasy and children’s film classic? Even! This one has made countless children cry, but it’s still worth it again and again: The Neverending Story is on TV today.
Today on TV: That’s what the fantasy classic The Neverending Story is about
Young Bastian (Barret Oliver) is regularly bullied by his mean classmates and also suffers from the death of his mother. One day, on the run from his tormentors, the boy hides in an antique store and becomes captivated by a very special book: It’s called The Neverending Story and Bastian gives in to the impulse to just plug it in.
A little later he settles down in the eerie attic of his school and begins to read. The story is about that mystical land fantasiesin which the sick ruler searches for the savior of her empire. This task falls to the young Atreyu (Noah Hathaway) and it soon turns out that Bastian is connected to the fictional (?) affair in a surprising way.
The Neverending Story is a true masterpiece that has been traumatizing children for 40 years
Even though the author of the original book, Michal Ende, wasn’t too enthusiastic about the film adaptation of his classic children’s book, the adaptation has enjoyed cult status for many years. That’s because of them handmade effects and the charm of the film adaptationwhich most people still cannot escape today.
One scene in particular is probably burned into many people’s memories as particularly unpleasant and sad. Of course there is talk of how
Atreyu tries to save his horse Artax from the Swamps of Sadness. A real horse was used during filming and at least they should be able to survive these morbid moments in the moor without shedding a tear.
