I admit that I was initially taken aback by the comments, raised fists, circumstantial catastrophism, “imminent danger” by way of analysis, and other sterile indignation that accompanied, in France, the decision of the American Supreme Court to return on the 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision, now authorizing abortion at the federal level (a criminal nonsense, I will come back to this). Our first reaction seemed to be to claim that tomorrow we were threatened with the same danger. I admit I wanted to wait for the wave of nonsense to calm down before reacting coldly – and rightly so.
The American Supreme Court, which is therefore geographically and legally in the United States, has chosen to allow each State the possibility of legislating on abortion: it is a crime. Because, authorized abortions or not, their number does not decrease – contrary to the number of deaths of women. How did we come to this? In large part: the fault of the progressives. Yes: laziness and arrogance have made American progressives deaf to the warnings of their muse, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who saw the weakness of the Roe vs. Wade judgment based on privacy and freedom, and wanted to overturn the right to abortion in the field of public health. Like in France.
Simone Veil was Minister of Health when she presented the bill authorizing abortion. But American liberals were too busy with political correctness, too busy counting women, blacks, Hispanics – much less Asians – hunting down suddenly insulting words, banning books and movies that dared to tell history, to erase any roughness, any divergent opinion to the doxa “diversity and sentimentality”, to demonstrate against the police and to imagine systemic oppressions, without being able to see the reality of the economic and cultural downgrading of the belt of rust ready to swing over to Trump’s side. Poor American women will pay the price with their lives for the left-wing bourgeois who soar in the heights of postural wokism.
The big bad American conservative has a good back
I never cease to be surprised at the crazy repercussions of the end of the Roe vs. Wade judgment in France, such as the proposal to include the right to abortion in the Constitution. Finally, if a political party opposed to abortion came to power, its first decision would be to suspend the Constitution! Some do not want to hear anything, understand anything, for whom the presence of 89 deputies from the National Rally would suddenly make the danger imminent. We had to wait a few days, the time of opinion polls, to learn that 82% of French Catholics are for abortion against 30% of French Muslims. It would be amusing if it were not tragic: the radical left which systematically denounces a hunt for Muslims in France, and which through electoral clientelism is ready for all compromises with Islamism and its corollary anti-Semitism, will be the ones which could claim the end of abortion to please its electorate, especially since only 66% of 18-24 year olds defend abortion… in other words the age category that votes largely for LFI!
While French women demonstrate against the end of abortion in the United States, do they know that the promotion of abortion is punishable by imprisonment in Germany? Do they know how difficult it is to have an abortion in Italy? That the vast majority of doctors there are conscientious objectors? Finally, do they imagine that abortion is absolutely forbidden in Malta? And almost impossible in Poland and Hungary? Do they even know that France is in Europe and that there are European women who do not have access to abortion? Where are they when it comes to standing up against these injustices on our doorstep?
While some demonstrated in France against the end of abortion in the United States, a 21-year-old woman was sentenced to fifty years in prison for miscarriage in El Salvador. Almost all of Latin America is against abortion in the name of liberation theology, which is the syncretism of the worst of Marxism and the worst of Catholicism. I do not remember having seen a single demonstration against the despair of these women in the world. I don’t remember having heard so much indignation in defense of the Germans, the Italians, the Maltese, the Poles, the Hungarians, the Salvadorans… Oh! I forgot: the big bad American conservative had nothing to do with it!
