During the second round, Åberg climbed from fourth to first with a total of 131 strokes, one stroke better than the chasing American trio of McCarthy, Ryder and Cole.
Åberg hit six birdies and finished the round in 64 shots, six under par. The second best Swede is Alex Norén, in a shared 22nd place, who completed the round in 68 strokes and is a total of four strokes behind leader Åberg.
