If you’ve ever had the desire to smash up a room or take a few whacks at a car, you’ll soon be able to satisfy that urge without criminal consequences.

Abel Enterprises is offering a room smash and car smash at the Simcoe Heritage Friendship Festival on the Civic Holiday weekend, and in October during the Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show.
“We take an old car, put it in a fenced area, you get your choice of tools to take in with you, and you pay to go in and take a few whacks at the vehicle,” said fundraising co-ordinator Robynn Beazley.
The room smash features a portable “room” containing breakable items.
“You again choose your tool, go in and engage in some smash therapy,” she said. “This will be done with safety first and foremost in mind… everything will be caged in, and safety gear will be provided courtesy of our safety sponsor Pure Environmental.”
In its 40th year, Abel Enterprises is a charity and social enterprise in Norfolk County aimed at improving the lives of people with mental health and/or addiction issues.

Members are offered job training and employment supports, a vocational rehabilitation program, a therapeutic woodworking shop, along with activities and social outings.
“We wanted to bring something fresh, new and exciting to our community,” Beazley explained. “Our program members will play a major role in staffing the booths, which fits in with our work skills training focus, and funds raised from these SMASH-IT for Abel Enterprises events will go towards programs, outings, and events for our members.”
The organization also holds fundraising bingos twice a month at the Simcoe Legion.
