Abduction charge laid after lengthy investigation police

Everyone is fine, safe, and healthy after a lengthy investigation led to an arrest Tuesday afternoon and resulted in charges that included abduction, an OPP spokesperson says.

The investigation began last spring, Const. Jamie Bydeley said.

No further information about what happened was available in order to protect the identity of the victim, he said.

Brittany Norris, 25 of St. Clair Township is charged with abduction in contravention of a court order, obstructing a peace officer, and eight counts of disobeying a court order.

The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing, police said.

Disturbance call leads to charges

An individual was taking into custody without incident Jan. 14 after police were contacted at 9:15 pm about a disturbance at a St. Clair Street address in Warwick Township, police said.

Ryan Mitchell, 24, of Alvinston is charged with uttering threats. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Sarnia court at a later date, police said.

Individual arrested during break and enter: police

A suspect was taken into custody after police were called to a Petrolia Line address in Petrolia on Jan. 14 at 1:50 am, police said.

Colin Parlette, 42, of Petrolia was charged with breaking and entering and resisting a peace officer.

The accused has been held in custody following a bail hearing, police said.

Driver arrested at RIDE checkpoint

Also on Jan. 14, at 1:30 pm, police were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint on Lyndoch Street in Corunna, police said.

At the checkpoint, an officer suspected a driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, prompting a roadside screening. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and taken to the OPP detachment, where two breath samples over the legal limit were allegedly provided, police said.

Tirah Oliver, 19, was released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date, police said.

Expired plates lead to charges: police

A vehicle police said had expired plates was stopped in Petrolia at 7:50 pm on Jan. 13 on Mulberry Place, police said.

The driver, it was learned, was breaching several release conditions and was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Charles White, 30, of Stratford is charged with failing to comply with undertakings and failing to comply with release orders.

White was released form custody following a bail hearing, police said.
