Aamjiwnaang Powwow continues Sunday

The Aamjiwnaang First Nation Powwow opened Saturday at Bear Park, marking the event’s return after being postponed during the pandemic.

It was the 59th annual powwow for the First Nation located next to Sarnia.

“Our powwow provides us with the opportunity to gather, celebrate and share some of our customs and traditions,” Chief Chris Plain in a welcome in the event’s program.

The powwow continued Sunday with gates opening at 10 am and Grand Entry scheduled for noon. A baby pageant was set for 1 pm, followed by a second round of dancing and singing.

Winners of the powwow competitions were to be announced at 6 p.m.
