Aamjiwnaang First Nation council elected

Aamjiwnaang First Nation has its next council.

Joanne Rogers, Sherri Crowley, Justin (CJ) Smith-White, Darren Henry, June Simon, John Adams, Ken Plain, Mike Jackson and Marina Plain were elected Friday, for the 2024-2026 term.

Chief Janelle Nahambin was acclaimed.

Twenty-six people ran for nine council seats, and there were 483 valid ballots cast, according to documents posted to the First Nation’s administration and council Facebook page.

Rogers received 237 votes, followed by Crowley with 225, Smith-White with 211, Henry with 175, Simon with 173, Adams with 169, Ken Plain with 166, Jackson with 161, and Marina Plain with 135.
