(Finance) – It was inaugurated today, in the presence of the Chief Executive Officer of A2A Renato Mazzoncini and the Councilor for the Environment and Greenery of the Municipality of Milan Elena Grandithe new San Cristoforo primary electrical substation. A2A’s infrastructure, created to distribute electricity in an integrated and widespread manner, contributes to increasing the reliability of the Milan network and to supporting the electrification of consumption in progress. The city is already today among the European metropolises with the highest density of electrical power required per square kilometer and by 2030 energy consumption is expected to double.

San Cristoforo is the second of the 10 primary cabins that will be built by A2A a Milan, the first 6 operational in the next three years. The construction of 880 secondary substations and over 1,600 kilometers of new cables is also planned.

β€œThe progress of the ten-year investment plan for over 1 billion euros continues, in which this plant is located, for the Milan electricity grid. – he has declared Renato Mazzoncini, Chief Executive Officer of A2A – The next few years will be fundamental for renewing the city’s infrastructure and making it ready for the challenges of the future: electrification of consumption and decarbonisation. The inauguration of the new primary substation goes precisely in this direction and represents the tangible example of the Group’s constant commitment to making the Milanese network increasingly reliable, to the benefit of citizens and businesses”.

The plant represents a fundamental junction of the network of distribution town, which makes it possible to transform electricity from high to medium voltage and thus optimize the management of the local electricity system. The San Cristoforo cabin was designed precisely to meet the growing demand for energy, allowing to streamline the loads energetic and balance the structures, guaranteeing high standards of quality and continuity of service. It also ensures the power supply of the new M4 metro line (for a total of 16.9 MW) and the electric bus charging hub “Giambellino” of ATMs (for about 6 MW). Finally, through the creation of new points of refeedin the event of disconnections, it guarantees a better distribution of the users on the lines and a bringing of the users closer to a new primary energy supply source.
