(Finance) – “The Article 9 reform establishes an imperative that companies, institutions and communities can no longer ignore. In order for there to be a truly “just” ecological transition, the new generations and the rights of human beings who are yet to be born must be safeguarded”. Marco Patuano, President from A2Aon the occasion of an event dedicated to the recent reform of article 9 of the Constitution which introduced the protection of the environment, biodiversity and ecosystems in the Charter and the principle of intergenerational equity, the right of those yet to be born to see preserved the common good.

“This instance inspired our Life Company to develop a dialogue with young people that recognizes them the role of stakeholder on corporate sustainability issues: for this reason we have put in place initiatives for the inclusion and enhancement of the point of view of young people in company processes, such as our first sustainability report dedicated to Generation Z. With the ethical principle and juridical sanctioned by the article 9, the intergenerational responsibility becomes a daily commitment for those who do business“, added Patuano at the event organized by A2A in collaboration with the Foundation for sustainable development and the Giffoni Innovation Hub.

With an in-depth analysis of the paper “In the interest of future generations” created with the collaboration of Francesco Clementi – professor of Comparative Public Law at the Sapienza University – the meeting was an opportunity to dialogue between institutions, young people, the academic and corporate worlds on the importance and implications of this reform.

They contributed to the debate, in addition to Marco Patuano, Edo Ronchi, President of the Foundation for Sustainable Development, Chiara Montanini, Project Manager Italy for Climate, Marco Frey, Professor Scuola Sant’Anna, President of the UN Global Compact Network Italy, the author of the paper, Filippo Sotgiu representative of Fridays For Future Italia, the illustrator Marcella Onzo and Giovanni Maria Flick, President Emeritus of the Constitutional Court. The event also saw the participation of a delegation from Legambiente and, representing the younger generations, the guys from Giffoni Innovation Hub.
