(Finance) – Beyond half a billion euros distributed to the territoriesor in the form of orders to suppliers, salaries, local taxes, dividends and sponsorships; more than 328 million in investments; almost 700 thousand tons of CO2 avoided thanks to the energy-environment system; zero waste in landfill; 9.9 million kilometers traveled by electric cars recharged at the charging stations A2A ; over 17 thousand students involved in environmental education projects. These are the numbers from the Brescia Territorial Sustainability Report of the Groupor A2A, arrived
in its tenth edition, presented today by the President and CEO of A2A, Roberto Tasca and Renato Mazzoncini, athe presence of Laura Castelletti, Mayor of Brescia, who reports on the Group’s environmental, economic and social performance in the area in 2023 and its activity plans for the next few years.
“One of the most urgent challenges facing us is the fight against climate change and supporting the places where we are present in the process of ecological transition will continue to guide our strategy. For the sustainable development of the Brescia area we have planned to allocate 3 billion euros to 2035. We believe that our commitment can also make an important contribution to the candidacy for European Green Capital – commented the president of A2To Roberto Tasca -. 2023 was extraordinary for this city thanks to the Bergamo Brescia Italian Capital of Culture event. A great event that we are proud to have supported, in particular with the Light is Life project which, in addition to having been a great success, was an opportunity to raise people’s awareness of the conscious use of resources and to bring concrete help to most vulnerable families thanks to the initiatives of the Energy Bank”.
“Today’s appointment renews the pact of transparency and dialogue started with the Brescia community in 2014. Having reached the tenth year is a great achievement, testifying to the important journey made together – explained the CEO of A2A Renato Mazzoncini –. In 10 years the Group has distributed value in this province for over 3.7 billion and invested 1.6 billion euros: numbers that tell how much this bond has strengthened over time. The growth of A2A has contributed to bringing more value, more services and more investments to this territory. Ten years ago we invested 60-70 million euros a year and distributed value of 250 million; in 2023 we quintupled investments, exceeding 300 million and more than doubled the value distributed, bringing it to 554 million. This city confirms itself as a model of decarbonisation thanks to the energy-environment system, which transforms waste into energy and heat, eliminating landfill disposal, and an increasingly green district heating network, capable of recovering waste heat not only from waste-to-energy plant, but also from steel mills and soon from a data center. A circularity model to export”.
