(Tiper Stock Exchange) – A2A today presented the Territorial Sustainability Report of Calabria, which reports the Group’s environmental, economic and social performance in the area in 2022 and the activity plans envisaged for the next few years. The financial statements were presented by Lorenzo GiussaniDirector of Generation and Trading of the A2A Group in the presence of Rosario VarìCouncilor for Economic Development and Cultural Attractors of the Calabria Region.
“Although 2022 was characterized by a complex economic and geopolitical scenario, we have increased investments to make our systems and our services more efficient, bringing them to 10.9 million, 80% more compared to 2021, e 35 million euros of economic value distributed throughout the territory“, declared Giussani, stating that these results ” testify to the tangible commitment of the Group in this region, also the result of the open dialogue with local stakeholders”.
In continuity with the commitment carried out over the last three years to listen to and dialogue with the communities in which the Group operates, in 2023 the process of Multi-stakeholder forum of A2A provides for the involvement of 11 territories throughout Italyto. The stakeholder listening initiatives have already involved Cremona and Bergamo, to which another 8 territories will be added during the year: Sicily, Valtellina and Valchiavenna, Brescia, Milan, Seregno, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Piedmont and Puglia.
The story of the A2A Territorial Sustainability Report unfolds along the lines of three key words: Planet, People, Prosperityin line with the areas identified by the World Economic Forum.
As for the chapter PlanetA2A’s hydroelectric plants in Calabria consist of various plants located on the Ionian side, which in 2022 produced a total 476 GWh of hydroelectric powerthus allowing to avoid 193 thousand tons of CO2. The Group uses natural gas to produce energy, thanks to the contribution of combined cycle thermoelectric plant of Scandale, which he produced this year 1,400 GWh. As for waste, the Crotone waste-to-energy plant, owned by the subsidiary TecnoA, traded in 2022 over 20,000 tons of industrial waste, producing more than 11 GWh of electricity.
As for the PeopleA2A, as a Life Company, is committed to creating a safe, inclusive and
sustainable, to accompany its corporate population in all the territories in which it operates. In 2022 the convention led by the concept “Light up Life” with over 1,400 participants to share the main evolutions of the 2021-2030 Strategic Plan. Also noteworthy is the “Leadership for Life” path dedicated to all the managers of the Group, the hiring of 14 new resources in the Calabrian offices and the 2,000 hours of training providedin addition to the many initiatives to raise employee awareness of diversity and inclusion issues.
In 2022, A2A supported the Prosperity of the territory, generating value and promoting interventions of a social, cultural and environmental nature: in Calabria, they have been 35 million euros distributed (+75% compared to 2021) in the form of dividends, taxes, local fees and concessions, orders to suppliers, sponsorships and employee remuneration. Were then destined approx 10.9 million
euros in infrastructure investments and plant maintenance, +80% compared to 2021. 37 suppliers activated and the amount of orders reached 12.9 million euros, of which 5.8 million to micro and small enterprises, with an increase of 25% compared to the previous year. A2A also played a role ineducation of boysthrough 10 webinars aimed at 959 teachers and the Pathways for Soft Skills and Orientation (PCTO) aimed at 1,567 Calabrian students.
