Resident Evil is Capcom’s classic survival horror series, in which you mostly have to deal with zombies. If you’ve ever wanted to check out the games, now is the best time to do so. MeinMMO editor Nikolas Hernes can only recommend it.
What kind of offer is currently available? There is currently an interesting Humble Bundle for horror fans. With Resident Evil Decades of Horror you can get 11 Resident Evil games and some DLCs for just under €28. You get the games in a bundle for Steam.
The bundle includes the following games and average playing time according to HowLongToBeat.com:
That’s a whopping 120 hours of gameplay that you get for the price. With the DLCs and side content, you get several more hours. And it’s worth it, because the entire series is really good in several aspects.
A collection of different genres and ideas
Why is the series so good? Resident Evil started as a survival horror series with fixed camera perspectives. As the series progressed, there were sometimes scary parts and sometimes action-packed ones with many different gameplay aspects. Most are from the third person, 7 and 8 are in first person. If you are a fan of old school horror, you will find games with fixed camera perspectives in the remakes of parts 1 and Zero.
A few years ago I made a tradition of playing at least one Resident Evil game every year for Halloween. It’s nice because the individual parts are quite short. I can also choose an action title or a more horror title depending on my mood.
As you play through the game, you notice how you are getting better. You use the environment better, understand the movement of your opponents, or use resources differently. In the various modes outside of the story, you can complete challenges with high scores in many of the games.
In addition, if you play through a Resident Evil, that’s just the beginning. You can often unlock new weapons or modifiers. Who hasn’t always wanted to play Resident Evil 4 with infinite ammo and a rocket launcher? Despite the linear story mode, the series always offers the opportunity to be creative with the gameplay.
STALKER 2 could also be interesting for many horror fans, but we still have to wait: Fans have been waiting for STALKER 2 for over 14 years – Now it’s coming even later than announced
What if you already have some games? The bundle is also available with fewer games. If you don’t need Resident Evil 8, you’ll pay less than €20. You can even get 7 games for €10. The bundles are a good opportunity for anyone who wants to catch up on the series. The offer is valid until September 10, 2024.
