The Sami church days, which this year are held in Enare on August 5-7, usually attract a lot of people from all over Sápmi. In addition to religious services, the event also includes concerts, seminars, workshops and exhibitions.
GOD’S ROLE IN HUMAN LIFE
This year, seminars are held on Christianity in everyday life, the role of God in human life and how to prevent suicide among the Sami.
Workshops are held on, among other things, hymns, handicrafts and the film “Boso mun ruovttoluotta”. For the children, music sessions are held with Sami children’s songs and songs.
MORE SAMI IN THE CHURCH
The goal of the church days is to strengthen and support the position of the Sami languages and promote the use of Sami in the church.
The Sami church days, which are organized every four years, are a collaboration between the Finnish delegation, the Sami church councils in Norway and Sweden, the Diocese of Oulu, Enare parish and the Orthodox Diocese of Oulu.
