An Indian wrestler has been banned for life by the National Wrestling Federation for punching the referee after his defeat in a room with broken air conditioning in New Delhi where an intense heat wave is raging. Satender Malik, wrestler in the over 125 kg category, was playing a qualifying bout on Tuesday, May 17 for the next Commonwealth Games scheduled for this summer in Birmingham (United Kingdom), when the referee awarded the victory to his opponent. Sweaty and in a fit of anger, the loser ran across the mat cursing the referee, Jagbir Singh, before punching him in the face. The outside temperature was 41 degrees Celsius while an intense heat wave is currently raging in northern India. The mercury even rose to 49 degrees in parts of New Delhi on Sunday.
