In the match played against Germany in Falun on Thursday, the female lions showed their support for a person who was paralyzed a few weeks ago To Sanni Hakala. 26-year-old Hakala crashed into a post three weeks ago in the Swedish hockey league in the ranks of HV71.
The Finnish ice hockey player said a week later that he might end up in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
The helmets of the Finnish players were engraved with Sanni, cheers and strength. Hakala is an experienced national team player who has been winning prestigious medals.
Hakala’s teammate Kiira Yrjänen sent his congratulatory message to his captain.
– Just a big thumbs up for Sanni. He, if anyone, is such a solid and wonderful person that he can fight through this, says Yrjänen.
A reformed group
Finland beat Germany 4–1. They were responsible for the goals Lisette Taks, Kiira Yrjänen, Ronja Savolainen and Nora Tulus. Julia Schalin collected three assists.
– At the beginning we were very awake and involved in the game. We gave Germany a lot of pressure with a good move. An orderly performance until the end, commented Yrjänen.
Finland is traveling to the Falun tournament with a well-reformed team.
– There are many young names involved, but there are also old experienced ones. There is a good mix of new and old.
