The accident occurred on road 116 between Bromölla and Näsum. The two cars collided with each other and two women in their 30s were taken to hospital. One woman was treated for life-threatening injuries while the other received minor injuries.
One of the cars started to burn in the accident and the fire spread to the roadside.
Police, rescue services and ambulances called to the scene but what caused the accident is unknown.
