A woman who was to carry out an internal audit at Gabon’s National Social Security Fund (CNSS) was lynched, proof of the tension and fears aroused by the government’s decision to control the management of this parastatal company.

Sanitize accounts
The management of the CNSS filed a complaint. But the anger of the agents is rising. Before Alima’s kidnapping, it was the residence of one of her colleagues that was robbed a month ago. The two women are auditing the accounts of the fund currently on the verge of bankruptcy. The management has promised to seize the authorities and asks that the perpetrators be sought. For their part, the unions have called for a great mobilization this Tuesday, November 15.
In June 2022, the Gabonese government decided to appoint new directors to the National Social Security Fund. The objective is to clean up the accounts and audit the management of the parastatal company. Each directorate has to justify the expenses and that’s where the problems started.
