The finals of the Women’s Triple Jump at the World Championships in Athletics culminated in a handsome Yulimar Rojas set a world record of 15.74 in Belgrade.
Rojas improved his previous best result on indoor tracks by as much as 31 cents. On the outdoor tracks, he had previously jumped to an ME score of 15.67.
Silver jumped on Ukraine Marina Beh-Romantshuk with a result of 14.74. So he lost exactly a meter to the champion. Jamaica Kimberly Williams took the bronze with a score of 14.59.
Kristiina Mäkelä ranked ninth with a score of 14.14. A minimum score of 14.28 would have been required for the final rounds of the final.
You can see Mäkelä’s performance in the video below.
– Of course it’s annoying, because the minimum goal was to get to jump six times. The legs felt good, but I couldn’t get out what was bad, Mäkelä told Sport.
According to Mäkelä, the body felt good, but there were difficulties with the bouncing track.
– The track was really challenging. I didn’t move the step backwards much after the first jump, but I was so far off the plank in the second jump that it was pointless to jump from it, Mäkelä repeated.
The third had to succeed, but Mäkelä did not take extra pressure from the situation.
– I was actually full of faith and I wasn’t excited about the situation. I reset such thoughts and just set out to do what I do best. But I didn’t get into the jump position in my last attempt, Mäkelä repeated.
Mäkelä competed only once before the World Championships, in Kuopio the jumps carried 13.75.
– I might have needed less than more races so that jumping at full speed would have gone with a better routine. Physically, there would have been more to give, but the triple jump is always like that, Mäkelä said.
Ilari Manninen missed a hundredth place
Ilari Manninen dropped slightly from the sequel in the men’s 60-meter fencing early. Manninen authenticated the time at 7.74 and fell behind six hundredths of his record.
You can watch Manninen’s run in the video below.
Manninen finished fourth in one of them and was narrowly eliminated in the time comparison. Manninen was only a hundredth of a place in the semi-finals. In the time comparison, the last place was redeemed by an Italian Hassane Fofanawhich ran for 7.73.
– Successful bet, I was able to run at my own level. Close to my record this morning as well, I am satisfied, Manninen told Urheilu.
The illness overshadowed the preparations for the World Cup in Belgrade.
– At first there was a stomach disease and then a fever. From the beginning of the week I couldn’t eat properly, but luckily I had time to recover in time and get to the races. It was not an optimal week to prepare for the competitions, Manninen said.
