A waitress warns restaurant owners do this to encourage you

This little technique given by a waitress would really have an effect on restaurant customers… and their wallets!

A waitress revealed a little trick she says is often used in bars, cafes and restaurants to encourage customers to leave more tips. In the video shared on the social network Tik Tok, we can see a bill holder, this small saucer or support used to give you change once you have paid the bill. On this support, we can find the sum of €1.50, made up of two 50 cent coins, two 20 cent coins and one 10 cent coin.

According to our expert who runs a TikTok page specially dedicated to restaurant tips and tricks and the little things hidden in kitchens and restaurant rooms, this multitude of small parts is not trivial, far from it. The method revealed consists of accumulating small coins on the table when giving change. “A little tip so that they leave you all this as a tip: don’t leave them a one euro coin and a 50 cent coin, because they (the customers, editor’s note) will take that of a euro. This is how they leave you everything,” she assures, showing the small coins. According to her, customers would leave more small coins on the table. By doing so, the servers would have a better chance of receiving a better tip.

Behind this “little server thing”, there is above all the question of the existence of tipping, already called into question by payment by bank card. The publication of our expert has also led to numerous reactions. Some criticize the fact that tipping seems to have almost become obligatory. “I never tip… I work and no one tips me. Why should the restaurant industry get tips when others don’t?” noted one user.

Other Internet users have displayed a more radical position! They say they never tip because hotel and restaurant workers are already paid for their work. Another counter-argued by referring to the monthly fees that banks charge for your credit card, emphasizing that customers also pay for other services and that tips are a welcome addition, especially when praising the quality of service. ‘service and a good time spent at the table.
