The Fagradalsfjall volcano near Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, has begun to erupt early this morning, the media reports.
According to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, strong seismic activity was detected near the Fagradalsfjall volcano shortly after 5 am local time. The eruption started around six in the morning local time.
This is the third volcanic eruption in the area since December.
According to the Icelandic authorities, contingency plans have been activated and the development of the situation is being monitored.

The photos shared by Ruvi show erupting glowing lava and clouds of smoke rising into the sky.
