The union police officers took advantage of this video, which has been circulating on social networks since Monday evening, to respond to Jean-Luc Mélenchon who had called the police “illiterate” last May.
The video has caused a stir on social media over the past 24 hours. It shows Sébastien Delogu, an unsubmissive MP for the 7th constituency of Bouches-du-Rhône, laboriously reading a question addressed to Bruno Le Maire and denouncing the budgetary policy of the resigning Minister of the Economy. While the video has been widely shared by detractors of La France Insoumise, several police unionists have also taken it up.
“Who is illiterate? Certainly not the police,” he responded. on X the national delegate of the Alliance Police, Éric Henry, by directly mentioning the founder of the Insoumis in his post X. And to add: “Sweeping in front of your door is proof of wisdom. Sebastien Delogu, do you prefer the syllabic, global method or the mixed (or semi-global) method? Respect is due to all!” The head of the Alliance Police nationale union in the south of France, Rudy Manna, also comments: “I remember a time not so long ago when Jean-Luc Mélenchon called the police illiterate. Always clean in front of your door before opening your mouth.”
A small but not insignificant detail, however, the video relayed by some has been modified. Slowed down, it makes the speech of the rebellious deputy even worse than it was initially, as can be seen by watching the original video published by the LCP channel.
Contacted by 20 Minutesthe two unionists nevertheless claim not to have wanted to attack Sébastien Delogu, but Jean-Luc Mélenchon who had described the police forces who interviewed the rebellious Mathilde Panot last May as “half-illiterate cops”. And Éric Henry justifies himself: the rebellious “make us look uneducated” and claim that Alliance is “a far-right union, intolerant and factious, when it is not”. For him, this post had its place “in the framework of union policy, of the defense of the interests of the police”.
