Brisbane, one of Australia’s largest cities, is currently preparing for the arrival of the tropical hurricane Alfred.
Alfred is predicted to strike directly to the city of 2.5 million inhabitants on Friday.
Alfred has been as many as 3 category typhoon, but has now weakened to class 1.
The storm continues to weaken on the beach. It is still causing great damage.
According to the weather scientists, the biggest threat to the storm is its sea water and erosion of the beach area.
Cyclones are closer to the equator, in the state of Queensland. Further south, they are very rare. The previous case was in 1974.
