Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) Head Ivan Ministerov told a national television channel that the FSB was planning to take Medvedchuk to Moscow via the Transnistria region and said, “We were not only dealing with Medvedchuk. On the other hand, we were not dealing with Putin’s relatives abroad. There was a very powerful enemy, called the FSB, who was trying to take it away.” said.
Ministerov stated that the FSB tried to use the leaders of criminal gangs and corrupt law enforcement officials in Ukraine to implement this plan, adding that the FSB spread false information to hide this plan, thus trying to mislead the Ukrainian security units.
Emphasizing that Medvedchuk was planned to be brought to the Ukrainian border, like a Ukrainian soldier, to the Ukrainian border, and from there to another country by being put on a boat, Ministerov stated that Medvedchuk was caught in an operation organized by the SBU while he was on his way to be taken.
Ministerov added that Medvedchuk will be brought to court and given a fair trial.
DETENTION
Known for his closeness to Putin, the leader of the main opposition Opposition Platform for Life, Viktor Medvedçuk, was detained today. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also proposed to replace Medvedchuk with Ukrainians held captive by the Russians.
Medvedchuk, known as the leader of the Opposition Platform for Life, known as Ukraine’s second largest party, was sentenced to house arrest in May 2021 on suspicion of treason. It is claimed that Medvedchuk, who allegedly escaped from house arrest after the start of the war in the country, is also the godfather of Putin’s daughter.
