Two giant tortoises were born at a Swiss zoo in May as part of a program to protect endangered species.

One of the chicks, like his parents, is black. Another of the turtles was born as an albino. It therefore has a light shield and red eyes.

This is a unique case, as albinism has never before been observed in turtle species. Their skin and skin are usually black.

Visitors to the Swiss zoo got to see the Galapagos giant tortoise’s albino boy for the first time on Friday.

The turtle chicks weigh 50 grams when hatched and fit in the palm of their hand. The sexes of the turtles are yet to be determined.

Albinism is a rare inherited condition. It is often associated with a genetic modification that causes melanosomes to produce little or no visible melanin.

Albino animals are not always completely white. For example, reptiles can be bright yellow because they also contain non-melanin pigments.
