A true brother in the hand is better than 1000

Of all the episodes during a Farmer Seeks Wife season, the trip is my absolute worst.

Why? Yes, but because it can be compared to Christmas Eve. Some are doing well, and some are sitting alone.

We all remember Simon who, one year, called his letter writer who did not answer when the taxi was waiting to take him to the airport. He goes himself, so the production panic calls a friend to him, who was ready packed in an hour. Or yes, quite honestly, he didn’t even have time to pack.

– They said “We buy bathing suits and sunglasses for you on the spot” and what else do you need on a sun holiday, he told News24.

So the guy had children and a wife to whom he had to give the message: My friend needs me. Now more than ever. See you soon.

– WHAT? ARE YOU HERE?, Simon said with tears in his eyes when his friend stepped into the luxury room.

Today, Simon has both a partner and children. Everything went well. But what his friend did will echo forever.

Jens Lundin’s favorite Alexandra chose to pipe from the yard. She swayed back and forth the entire recording, but still he put all the powder in there. A bit poorly played perhaps with so many lovely chocolates on the farm.

But really, what to do? When you get hit – you get hit.

It all ended with Jens having to go on his trip alone. But with him he had his brother from the same mother, Johan.

They checked into hotels, drank bubbly, went on adventures and talked about life.

And it struck me this time too that yes. Love can go to hell. It’s hard there. But then being able to sit and listen to the conversations Jens and his humble and empathetic brother had, it actually warmed my body.

The adversities in life come on a conveyor belt. I’m the kind of person who thinks that alone can be strong, but it’s worth its weight in gold to have people who pick you up and are there when things go to hell.

Ambivalence is something we humans are obsessed with. And for many it will come sooner or later. However, something you must constantly value and cherish are the people who stand up when it matters.

So Jens – a true brother in the hand is better than 1000 brides on the farm. And love will come for you too, probably when you least expect it.
