A trick in Dragon’s Dogma 2 lets you earn 200,000 gold in 2 hours

Just a few days after the release of Dragon’s Dogma 2, resourceful players have already found a method to farm a lot of gold in a short time. However, the system behind it is a bit questionable.

How do you get gold quickly? There are several ways to earn gold in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Defeated enemies sometimes drop gold; we have introduced a popular farming route in another post.

Valuable items such as gemstones can also be sold to dealers. Just like equipment you find that you don’t need.

But as is often the case, clever players have found another method to get impressive amounts of gold in a short period of time.

Are you still carrying around tons of camp gear? But few players know that this is not necessary.

Your vassal brings home the gold

How does the trick work? Essentially, the method is a pyramid scheme. This means that the more people use the method, the better it works.

Reddit user Thick_Shady explained how the trick works in a post. First you have to give your own vassal a quest. The easiest way to do this is to ask him to kill a specific monster.

Ogres, cyclops and chimeras are suitable for this. To give the other player who summons your minion an incentive to complete the quest, you offer a reward. This should not be set too low. The Reddit user recommends 10,000 gold.

At first it sounds as if you are making losses with this method. But here’s the trick: you only have to pay the reward once, while countless players can summon your vassal in the Rift.

If you go into the Rift yourself and find vassals of other players who also offer 10,000 gold as a reward, you will quickly benefit from it yourself. Simply summon the minion, knock down an ogre, quest completed. 10,000 gold will find its way into your account.

Earning gold can be so easy

How well does that work? According to the Reddit user, very good. In his experimental run, he earned about 200,000 gold in two hours. He repeatedly took the vassals of those players who participated in the system, killed tons of ogres and pocketed the reward every time.

So the method seems to work. The only question is how long Capcom will let players get away with this. After all, this way the game’s economic system is rendered almost meaningless.

Do the players participate? Under Thick_Shady’s Reddit post alone, many players who know about the system are speaking out:

  • “I’ll do it. If the reward is 10,000 gold, I’ll hire the people,” writes AzurasNerevarine.
  • “Can we start a list of vassal IDs/platforms that offer 10,000 gold?” suggests HandsomeHorses.
  • “Is this the Dragon’s Dogma version of financial fraud?” asks christusmajestatis.
  • In fact, the method probably wouldn’t be entirely legal in real life. Maybe the digital police called Capcom will intervene soon.
