Millions of French people will have good news in a few days.
This is the good news in the heart of summer. In a few days, around 10 million French people will see an unexpected line of credit appear in their bank account. Not everyone will have the same amount, but on average, it will be 840 euros. The beneficiaries of this exceptional transfer were already informed several weeks ago, but some may have forgotten that the money was coming.
At the end of July, a small line adding to your finances will appear on your bank statement. The sender of the transfer: “DGFIP FINANCES PUBLIQUES”. The wording: “REMB IMPOT REVENUS”. This will in fact be the payment made to the Directorate General of Public Finances for income tax. If, in 2023, you have paid too much tax in relation to your resources and your various expenses (childcare, mileage expenses, rental investment, etc.), then the tax authorities will automatically take care of returning what they owe you.
The exact amount that will be paid is specific to each person. This is already indicated on the “Notice of declaration situation for 2024 tax on 2023 income”, available in your personal tax space. By clicking on “View PDF”, a window will open on which will be marked, on the first page, “Amount that is refunded to you”, with the amount just below.
However, the date was not specified on this document. It simply stated: “You will be reimbursed in the summer of 2024.” But now, the tax authorities have specified the payment schedule. The amount will arrive in bank accounts on Wednesday, July 24 for most taxpayers affected by a refund. However, some will only receive it a week later, on Wednesday, July 31. The DGFiP did not detail the reasons for this payment delay.
To be sure that the transfer reaches the right destination, it is possible to check the account held by the tax authorities. To do this, simply log in to your personal space, click on “Withholding tax” then on “Update your bank details” in the left column. It would be a shame if the money was not received due to an administrative error.
