This future payment will do the budget some good.

This is the good news of the summer. Expected for many months, a substantial transfer will soon arrive in the bank accounts of many retirees, in addition to the usual pension received every month. An amount of around 700 euros that concerns more than a million people. This is not an exceptional boost from the government or elsewhere, but a late application of the pension reform. In the middle of the change in the retirement age from 62 to 64, a financial decision was hidden that took a long time to be implemented.

Last year, an increase in minimum retirement pensions was approved. This measure was to benefit 1.7 million retirees, starting on 1er September 2023. However, when the money was received at the beginning of October, most of the beneficiaries had the unpleasant surprise of not seeing the pension increased. A mistake? An oversight? No. It was actually the administration that was unable to identify in time the people affected by this increase, or calculate the new amount that should have been granted to them. Result: more than a million retirees did not receive the promised sum.

After months of work, the National Old Age Insurance Fund (CNAV) will finally pay the right amount to eligible households in a few weeks. And will even pay, in one go, all the additional money that should have been received over the past year by beneficiaries of the minimum contribution. The monthly increase will be around 50 to 60 euros, the CNAV indicates to The Internet user. So, due to the catch-up, between 600 and 720 euros will be transferred at once, in addition to the pension. The organization specifies that, if this concerns the pension for the month of September, it will only be paid on Wednesday, October 9. You will therefore have to wait a little longer before receiving the money.

The beneficiaries of this revaluation are generally people who have worked all their lives while simply having a salary close to or equivalent to the minimum wage throughout their career. Furthermore, you must have contributed for at least 120 quarters to be entitled to this increase in pension.
