A train has hit a car in Bromölla

The alarm about the accident came at a quarter past nine on Friday evening. According to the police, a train with about 30 passengers must have run into a car at a guarded railway crossing in Gualöv, Bromölla. None of the passengers were injured.

A person was traveling in the car and was confirmed dead by the police at midnight.

There are train stops on the route and the road where the accident happened has been closed in both directions. The train stop has the greatest consequences between Hässleholm and Karlshamn, but may affect traffic down to Lund and Malmö.

The police will impound the car for technical examinations. The police do not suspect any crime.

– There are serious injuries. The car has been dragged by approximately 100 to 150 meters, says Mikael Svensson, officer on duty.

At midnight, police reported that the driver of the car, a woman in her 70s, had died. Relatives have been notified.
