A tightly taped wrist did not slow down Toni Piispa

Toni Piispanen is confident that in Monday’s 200 meters final, he will be in even stronger shape than in the 100 meters.

Toni Piispanen got another prestigious medal to his account when he won bronze in the T51 class 100 meters at the World Para Athletics Championships in Paris. At the same time, he secured one more Paralympic place for Finland.

Belgium won the final Peter Genynwho clocked a new competition record of 19.79. Roger Habsch completed the Belgian celebrations with a silver place with a time of 19.97. Piispane’s time was 20.56.

– Two was much tougher than me today. This result was actually like my season this season, I had some difficulties, Piispanen said after the race.

– I am not disappointed by this, but of course I would have hoped that it would be harder. Today’s condition is this.

Piispanen wrapped up the WC final with his wrist tightly taped. He assured that the injury did not affect his performance.

– You don’t feel it in that rewind when you have such a memory on. I believe that tomorrow we will be able to challenge harder, when there is perhaps a better distance for me, he said, referring to Monday’s 200m final.

Piispane’s preparation for the World Championships has been going well. The Finnish team arrived at the games late, but since then there has been enough momentum. The medal achieved in the 100 meters was already the 21st prestigious medal for Piispa, who has had a long and successful career.

– Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully it will be hard tomorrow as well, he hoped.

Finland has achieved four medals and five Paralympic places from the World Championships in Paris.
