Lauri Markkanen was on the sidelines against Denver due to a happy family event.
The Utah Jazz in basketball’s NBAfrom Lauri Markka was not seen on the court when the team hosted the Denver Nuggets the night before Thursday.
Utah told the messaging service X that Markkanen was out of the game due to personal reasons. After the match, Utah’s Deseret News reported that the Markkanen family had a third child.
The team, which played without its Finnish star, lost to Denver 103-122. The point king of the match was from Denver Nikola Jokic with 30 points.
Markkanen injured his knee the day before in the San Antonio match.
Writing for the Athletic Tony Jones told X before the game that, according to league sources, Markkanen’s knee is fine.
“Tests last night found no structural damage, which was confirmed by an MRI this morning, so he appears to have avoided serious injury,” Jones wrote.
However, Jones later removed his post without giving a reason.
