A thick report full of points for improvement, but no one does anything about stable fires

Numbers

The Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality has set the goal of halving the number of fatal stable fires and fatal animal victims per sector in 2026 compared to 2020.

Although there were fewer fatal stable fires in 2021, there was an increase again last year. The number of stable fires increased from 32 to 42. The number of deceased animals in 2021 (6915) increased sharply in 2022 (130,000). In 2023 there were also several stable fires with thousands of deceased animals. There has not yet been a structural decline due to the largely non-compliance with recommendations, the Research Council states.
