Interruptions, sarcastic remarks and personal attacks… The debate presenter sometimes had difficulty imposing fair speaking times and a respectful tone during this hour of discussions.

The audience in the studio, who were able to question the candidates, will not have learned much about the programs of the Conservatives and Labor. The debate revolved a lot around the economy, Rishi Sunak positioning himself as the candidate for tax cuts, Keir Starmer like that of common sense after two years of economic degradation.

Lively discussions on the “relocation” of asylum seekers

On immigration, discussions faltered on the partnership with Rwanda and the “relocation” of asylum seekers to Kigali. Labor could maintain this project or a variation, while respecting international conventions. Conversely, the conservatives are renewing their promise to leave the European Court of Human Rights to achieve their goals.

No winner emerged from this hour of discussion, a flash poll carried out at the end of the debate gave Rishi Sunak in the lead with only 51% of viewers.
