A message posted by this young man of French nationality on the encrypted messaging service Telegram had initially put investigators on his trail. An investigation, now in the hands of the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (Pnat), has been opened for “participation in a terrorist criminal association with a view to preparing crimes of attacks against people”, indicates The Parisian.
Placed in custody by police officers from the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI), the teenager admitted wanting to commit a “suicidal terrorist action” in the La Défense business district, in the Paris suburbs, during the period of Paris Olympic Games. The young man wanted to intervene armed with a rifle and an explosive belt, and die under the bullets of the police who came to arrest him. His custody continues. Its aim is to determine “the reality of the planned terrorist act and, where applicable, its state of completion”, specified in Parisian the Pnat which however calls for “caution”.
