A surprise loss for Coco Gauff at the US Open

23-year-old Emma Navarro defeated the defending champion of the US Open tennis tournament.

The 13th American in the world Emma Navarro defeated the defending champion and his underdog in the quarterfinals of the US Open Coco Gauffin by 6–3, 4–6, 6–3.

The win earned Navarro a place in the quarterfinals, where he will face the Spaniard Paula Badosan (ATP-29).

With the victory, 23-year-old Navarro rises to at least 12th place in the world ranking. Gauff is third in the world ranking.

– I believe that I can play tennis with the best players in the world, Navarro decided.

In the previous round, Navarro defeated the Ukrainian ranked 19th in the world Marta Kostyukin set 6–4, 4–6, 6–3.
