Biathlon skier Mari Eder ended his successful sports career last season. The two-time World Cup competition winner was on Sunday feeling the competition atmosphere in his native Austria.
Biathlon World Cup competitions were held in Hochfilzen this weekend.
– Did you think that you could just walk past without having to be interviewed, Urheilu’s editor Inka Henelius said to Eder.
– I was able to dodge quite well, but you just missed, good-natured Eder threw back.
Eder lives with her Austrian-born husband just an hour’s drive from the Hochfilzen competition venue. Business activities keep the duo busy.
– That’s enough work. Nice hustle and bustle, Eder says.
Competing does not inspire
Eder is enjoying the atmosphere of biathlon now as a spectator. He has not applied for competitions.
– I don’t feel like it. I look at this side with complete satisfaction. It’s going hard, like the entire 20 years I was involved.
– Looking from the side, you see the competition in a completely different way. It’s nice to watch everyone’s progress fairly evenly, Eder says.
Eder went to test skis at the weekend for work. However, there has been no time for skiing.
– Kilometers are running low. Probably more now that winter has come here too.
