Two twin sisters were followed for almost 20 years, one receiving regular botox injections two to three times a year, the other not. And here are the results.

Written by a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, one report compared multiple images of each twin at different time intervals.

What is the effect of botox over time?

The twins were photographed in 2006 for the first time, at the age of 38, when their faces were in a resting phase. At that time, one sister had received at least 26 botox injections over the past 13 years and the other had only received a few orders.

The result was that the twin who had received the treatments regularly had visibly smoother skin, with less wrinkles on her face. Her twin sister, on the other hand, had deeper wrinkles and lines on her forehead. crow’s feet more visible than the twin who had received the injections.

Later, in 2012, the twins were followed again. That year, the botox-free twin had a noticeably fuller face and wider jawline. However, it is not certain that these characteristics are linked to the absence of botox. At the 2012 follow-up, both twin sisters reported using sunscreen regularly, ruling out the possibility that the wrinkles could have been caused by long-term exposure to the sun’s UV rays.

Neither used retinol to treat wrinkles and led a fairly healthy lifestyle.

    The plastic surgeon’s conclusions

Dr. William Binder, who reported the case study, claimed that he ““It is likely that long-term Botox treatment will be able to prevent the development of deep wrinkles, not only by inhibiting the patient’s ability to contract the target muscle, but perhaps also by modifying their behavior.”
