A strong wind watered down Topi Raitanen’s season opening and show in the Diamond League – “Sand dust full of lungs and eyes”

A strong wind watered down Topi Raitanens season opening and

Topi Raitanen was not satisfied with his opening race of the season, but is confident in his condition. Next, Raitanen will compete smoothly in Lahti.

Topi Raitasen the opening of the season in the Diamond League race in Doha did not go according to plan. Raitanen said that he would aim for 8.20–8.25 in advance, but his final time dropped to 8.38.75. With this, he placed 11th in the race.

– At this point, time is not so important. It was definitely a difficult race for everyone, Raitanen said after the race.

There was a strong wind in Doha throughout the Games, which forced even the men’s race to be canceled. Although the wind was no longer as strong in the evening as during the day, it still bothered me, at least from Raita, for whom the last kilometer was especially difficult.

– No help was found in the lungs or legs today for running. “Nice” sand dust full of lungs and eyes. It took its toll today. When I dropped alone on the tail of the set, there was a surprising amount of difficulty pushing into that wind and the difference immediately burst into great shape.

Raitanen admitted that his tactics did not work at all in the Doha race and the whole race was a bad opening for him. It was also an important venue for him for other Diamond League races.

– However, I know that I have done good exercises all spring – better than last summer. With that in mind, I’m confident, but this was such an opening now. Not just got off the plane. But now the season is open. Now just go home, train on the machine and then prepare for the next race.

Raitanen will run the next race in the last day of May in the Ostrava high-level race. Prior to that, he will run the 3,000-meter race at the Lahti GP on May 25th.

Anderson Peters of Grenada snatched 93.07 from the spear

In Doha, the men’s javelin throwing saw a fierce competition for victory. Grenadan Anderson Peters was able to take advantage of the strong wind and improved his own record as many as three times. At last, Peters shook as many as 93.07! The result is a record for both Grenada and the continent.

Peters threw from 88.96 to 87.30 to 88.51 to 85.75 to 90.19 to 93.07. His record before the Doha Diamond League was 87.31 from 2019.

Peters received good resistance from the Tokyo Olympic silver medalist From Jakub Vadlejch, who threw in the fifth 90.88. The Czech Republic’s second-best throw was 89.87. Also ranked third Julian Weber threw a good result of 86.09.
