Utah is the first state in the US to restrict the use of social media by those under the age of 18.
Republican governor of Utah Spencer Cox signed laws in March banning social media for minors at night. The new laws will enter into force in a year.

In addition to the curfew, those under the age of 18 will need their parents’ consent to use social media platforms in the future. Parents also have access to their children’s private messages, among other things.
